When life was simple, I picked up a bottle of nail polish while I waited in line at Sephora. As I read the name “High Maintenance” I turned to my best friend and said “that’s going to be the name of my salon one day.”

11 years later, I have two daughters and life has meaning. Although we are lucky to have the most perfect role model for what a husband and father should be, I am my raising my girls to never rely on anyone to support them financially. In this world you can be anything that you want to be!

Owning a business has had its ups and downs. My girls have been through the thick of it with me. They are always watching. They are always listening. Ages 6 and 7 they were at the salon painting with me as my husband hung cabinets. They practiced with the mannequin heads while we waited 6 hours for new chairs to be delivered. Pretend to cash out clients at the front desk that my husband built from scratch. They know the hard work it takes to own a business.

When the opportunity presented itself to expand into the 6000 square foot building next door, I called a family meeting. “All in favor of buying the building?” They all raised their hands. Wow! I thought, they really do believe in me. I mean, have you seen the building? Then you know haha. I tell them all the time that I’m their number one cheerleader, but actually their mine.

What better time to rename my business after my two amazing little girls that look up to me? After all they are the reason why I keep going, even when I don’t want to.

We are sad to see the name High Maintenance go, but we are proud to say we are now named after my two smart, strong, funny as hell, confident, creative daughters!
